My debut collection, Folk Art Fantasy - August 2022 - Dandy Dorothy
“As a queer Latino boy raised amongst the farm fields of rural Ohio, my imagination was my refuge from the ordinary. My land of make believe was so much more strange, unusual, and magical than what I thought was around me.
Now as an artist, it’s my role to create these fantasies for the physical world.
With this debut collection from InBetweenBranches I am bringing influences from the avant-garde fashion & body-extension world, in a range of recycled fabrics and other unconventional materials. Using folk techniques from my upbringing I’ve created a collection that exists both as wearable art and an example of high fashion camp excellence.
I want to reintroduce you to the concept that beauty can and does exist in many forms. That the life & value of something goes beyond what you might expect. And that the reimagining of existing archetypes can lend to more inclusive cultural representation.
Please allow yourself to be transported into my world of strange fantastical familiarity. Come meet the characters of my imaginary world and revel in the whimsy of my own Folk Art Fantasy.”
